You will practice in small formats, he calls them minisketchs, small squares in his notebook where he practices complex scenes and compositions. This will help you improve and is a quick way to get ideas down. From his sketchbook, he will explain how he scans his drawings and prepares them to be able to work on them before coloring them.
You will work both the traditional and digital formats, and you will follow the same process in both of them. You will learn how to apply color in your sketches, how to select a correct range and achieve an elegant and professional finish. Attention to detail is very important also when applying color. By taking advantage of shapes and textures in the drawings, you will see how you can create a richer color base to achieve an incredible result.
You will learn to manage shadow and light to help you illuminate the character and direct the viewer’s attention. You will do this by optimizing your efforts in the illustration areas that interest you most. This is very important when you are working against the clock.
You will practice a very creative exercise that Dibujante Nocturno uses very much: use your own drawing as pieces of a puzzle to create new shapes. By copying, pasting, duplicating and transforming you will be able to modify your drawings and achieve amazing results. Plus, it’s a really fun process.
