Ricard López (Ricardilus) was born in Barcelona in 1994, the city where he currently resides.
His passion for drawing is born as far as he can he can remember, always surrounded by pencils, colors and notebooks. Perhaps he has never stopped drawing.
The decision to pursue art did not arise until he began artistic studies when he was 16 years old. Once finished, he joined the Fine Arts degree, although he abandoned it the first year. It is then that he began a Superior Degree in Animation and 3D, since he has always been passionate about the idea of bringing his drawings to life. He alternated classes with different courses related to illustration. He finished the degree with an animated short film (“La Folie”) with which he was selected and awarded in different renowned competitions. The following year he enrolled in Graphic Arts in Barcelona and graduated in 2017.
He currently dedicates himself solely to illustration, alternating all kinds of projects (editorial, commercial, advertising…) with different artistic courses that he teaches.
His illustrations are based on the female figure, since his purity, sensitivity and sensuality are the adjectives that he tries to convey in each of his strokes. Despite this, he believes that a good illustrator should never get stuck in one style, so he tries to discover new worlds and techniques every day. In his portfolio you can find works ranging from “classic / atelier” style to children’s illustrations.
At 25 he has worked for publishers such as Penguin Random House, labels such as Lumen, Alfaguara, Nube de Tinta, Editorial Planeta or Editorial Bromera, companies such as TSL Jewelery (Hong Kong) or SofarSounds, and also for organizations such as the National Museum of Arte de Catalunya (MNAC) or the Teatre Tantarantana, among others.
